With summer’s dog days in full effect, what’s better this time of year than some refreshing lemonade? Even better, lemonade with a dash of blackberry and lime. Better still? All that and a hit of cannabis.
Enter (ta daa) Blackberry Lemonade & Lime from Cannabis Quencher, maker of a full line of infused beverages from single-serve spritzers that each contain 5 mg of THC to mixers, 16 oz. bottles that pack 100 mg of THC. I tried the latter and sipped it straight, although I can see this making a fine mocktail.
First things first. If an edible doesn’t taste good, what’s the point? Well, no worries there. I’ve never had blackberry in my lemonade before but it adds a nice twist. And with just the right amount of sweetness and not a trace of weed flavor, this drink goes down easier than the little pig’s house made of straw.
You have two choices when it comes to measuring your dose. Each capful delivers 2 mg of THC, or use the hashmarks on the bottle for pouring a bigger dose. CQ claims that the bottle makes 50 drinks, but that’s only if each drink has 2 mg of THC. Come on, that ain’t no microdose, that’s a nanodose. Anyway, it took just over a half hour to start feeling the effects. By the hour mark, the THC had fully kicked in and lasted about four hours.
CQ has been making edibles since 2008, trying their hand at cookies and hard candy along the way before settling on this latest iteration. When it comes to their products, this is my maiden voyage, but I can safely say not my last, and I’m also pretty confident that CQ’s Blackberry Lemonade will be a fixture in my regular rotation.
